Glucose
This test measures the amount of glucose, a type of sugar, circulating in your blood to see how well your body manages its energy supply. It helps identify the cause of symptoms such as excessive thirst, frequent urination, confusion, or fainting. Clinicians use these results to screen for diabetes, prediabetes, and low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). However, a single reading cannot diagnose a specific disease on its own, as levels change significantly depending on when you last ate.
Fasting required
Fast for at least 8 hours before your blood draw.
Water is fine. Skip food and other drinks, including coffee and tea.
