# Urea Nitrogen

> This test measures the amount of urea nitrogen in your blood, a waste product created when your body breaks down protein. Since your kidneys normally filter this waste out through urine, the test helps show how well your kidneys are functioning. Doctors use these results to help identify issues such as kidney disease, dehydration, or blockages in the urinary tract. However, this test cannot diagnose a specific condition on its own and is often evaluated alongside other markers like creatinine.
