Alkaline Phosphatase

This test measures the level of alkaline phosphatase (ALP), an enzyme found mostly in your liver and bones. It helps doctors evaluate liver function and bile duct health, or check for conditions affecting your bones. These results can help determine if symptoms are likely coming from a liver blockage or a bone disorder. However, because ALP is produced in different parts of the body, this test cannot diagnose a specific disease on its own and is often reviewed with other liver or bone tests.
