# Creatinine

> This test measures the level of creatinine, a waste product made by your muscles that is normally filtered out of your blood by your kidneys. It helps show how well your kidneys are functioning, as high levels often mean they are not filtering waste efficiently. Doctors use this measurement to help identify issues like kidney disease, dehydration, or blockage in the urinary tract. However, this test alone cannot determine the specific cause of kidney problems or detect very early stages of kidney damage without additional testing.
