Ceruloplasmin

This test measures the level of ceruloplasmin, a protein made by your liver that carries copper through the bloodstream. It helps show whether your body is transporting copper correctly, which is often checked if you have unexplained liver issues or nervous system symptoms like tremors. Doctors frequently use this test to help identify Wilson’s disease, a genetic condition that causes dangerous copper buildup in the body. However, a normal result does not guarantee you are free of genetic copper disorders, and this test cannot diagnose specific liver diseases by itself.
