Copper, Serum or Plasma
This test measures the amount of copper in your blood, a mineral essential for nerve health and making red blood cells. It helps show whether your levels are too low due to nutritional issues or too high, which can be toxic to your organs. Doctors use these results to help evaluate genetic conditions like Wilson’s disease or to monitor for copper poisoning. However, because inflammation and hormones can temporarily change copper levels, this test does not diagnose a specific disease by itself.
