Alkaline Phosphatase Isoenzymes
This test measures the different forms of alkaline phosphatase (ALP), an enzyme found in your liver, bones, and intestines. It is useful when your total ALP levels are high because it helps doctors determine which specific organ is releasing the enzyme into your blood. By identifying the source, the test helps distinguish between liver issues and bone disorders. While it points to the affected organ system, it does not diagnose a specific disease or condition by itself.
