Renin Activity, Plasma

This test measures the activity of renin, an enzyme released by your kidneys that helps control blood pressure and fluid balance. It is frequently used to investigate the underlying cause of high blood pressure that is difficult to control. Results help doctors distinguish between conditions related to hormone imbalances, such as primary aldosteronism, and issues with blood flow to the kidneys. However, this test cannot diagnose a condition by itself and is usually evaluated alongside aldosterone levels and other clinical factors.
