This test measures the total amount of Immunoglobulin E (IgE), an antibody your immune system produces. It helps show if your body is reacting to an allergen, which is useful for evaluating conditions like asthma, hay fever, or eczema. Doctors use this information to see if your symptoms are likely caused by an allergic process rather than an infection. However, this test only measures the overall level of IgE and cannot identify specific triggers or diagnose a specific allergy by itself.
