This measurement helps show whether abnormal potassium levels in your blood are caused by your kidneys releasing too much or by other factors, such as digestive issues. While it helps distinguish between kidney problems and hormonal imbalances, this test cannot diagnose a specific disease on its own and is usually compared with blood test results.
