# Osmolality, Urine

> This test measures the concentration of particles, such as salts and waste, in your urine to determine how well your kidneys are balancing water. It helps show whether your body is holding onto too much fluid or losing too much, which is useful for evaluating dehydration, excessive thirst, or frequent urination. Doctors use these results to help distinguish between kidney problems and hormonal conditions that affect fluid regulation. However, this test cannot diagnose a specific disease by itself and is usually compared with blood test results to understand the full picture.
