> This test measures the amount of urea nitrogen, a waste product created when your body breaks down protein, in urine collected over a full 24-hour period. It helps show how well your kidneys are filtering waste and indicates if your body is maintaining a healthy balance of protein. Doctors use these results to evaluate kidney function and to rule out issues with protein absorption or excessive protein loss. However, this test cannot diagnose a specific kidney disease or identify the exact cause of an imbalance on its own.
