Aldosterone, 24-Hour Urine
This test measures the amount of aldosterone, a hormone produced by the adrenal glands that regulates salt and water balance, in a urine sample collected over 24 hours. It helps show whether the body is producing too much of this hormone, which can lead to persistent high blood pressure and low potassium levels. Doctors often use this test to investigate causes of hypertension that are difficult to control or suspected to be caused by adrenal issues. However, a high result on this test does not confirm a diagnosis by itself and must be interpreted alongside blood tests and other clinical findings.
