Aldosterone:Renin Ratio
This test compares the levels of aldosterone and renin, two hormones that work together to regulate blood pressure and fluid balance. It helps show whether high blood pressure might be caused by a hormonal imbalance rather than standard factors. Specifically, it screens for primary aldosteronism, a condition where the adrenal glands make too much aldosterone. This test does not provide a final diagnosis by itself, as medications and diet can influence the results, often requiring further confirmatory testing.
