> This test measures the amount of aldosterone, a hormone made by the adrenal glands that manages salt and water balance in your body. It helps doctors investigate causes of high blood pressure, particularly when standard medications are not working effectively. The results can indicate if the adrenal glands are producing too much hormone, a condition known as hyperaldosteronism. However, this test does not pinpoint the exact cause of the imbalance or diagnose a tumor by itself.
