# Ferritin

> This test measures the amount of ferritin in your blood, a protein that stores iron for your body to use later. It helps show how much iron your body has in reserve, which is useful if you are experiencing unexplained fatigue or weakness. The results help doctors distinguish between iron deficiency and conditions causing excess iron buildup. However, because inflammation or liver issues can also raise ferritin levels, this test alone cannot determine the exact cause of abnormal results.
