> This test measures the amount of transferrin, a protein in your blood that attaches to iron and carries it throughout your body. It helps show whether your body has too little or too much iron, which is often checked when investigating fatigue or weakness. Results can help doctors distinguish between iron deficiency anemia and other issues like liver disease or chronic inflammation. However, a transferrin test alone cannot diagnose a specific medical condition, as levels can also be affected by pregnancy, hormone medications, or nutritional status.
