# Hematocrit

> Hematocrit measures the percentage of your total blood volume that consists of red blood cells. This test helps show if your red blood cell count is too low, which can cause fatigue, or too high, which may indicate dehydration. It is frequently used to screen for anemia, monitor blood loss, or check for conditions involving excess red blood cells. However, this result alone does not identify the specific cause of the imbalance, such as a nutritional deficiency or a bone marrow problem.
