Individual test · Labcorp 005199
Prothrombin Time (PT)
This test measures how long it takes for your blood to form a clot. It is frequently used to monitor how well blood-thinning medications like warfarin are working or to investigate the cause of unexplained bleeding and bruising. The results help doctors evaluate bleeding disorders or liver health issues that affect clotting. However, this test alone cannot identify exactly which clotting factor is missing or diagnose a specific disease without further testing.
