# Reticulocyte Count

> This test measures the number of reticulocytes, which are young, immature red blood cells made by your bone marrow. It helps show whether your body is producing enough new cells to replace those lost to bleeding or destruction. This information helps doctors differentiate between anemias caused by blood loss and those caused by production problems in the marrow. However, this test cannot determine the specific underlying cause of a blood disorder on its own.
