Antistreptolysin O (ASO) Antibodies

This test measures the level of antibodies your body produces against a toxin made by Group A Streptococcus bacteria. It helps show whether you have recently had a strep infection, which is useful if you have symptoms of complications like joint pain or kidney issues. This result helps doctors evaluate if a past infection is related to conditions like rheumatic fever. However, this test cannot diagnose a current case of strep throat and does not confirm a specific disease by itself.
