Mononucleosis Test, Qualitative

This test looks for specific antibodies in your blood that the immune system produces in response to infectious mononucleosis. It helps determine if symptoms like severe fatigue, fever, and swollen glands are caused by a current mono infection. This screening helps doctors distinguish mono from other illnesses with similar signs, such as strep throat. However, a negative result does not completely rule out the infection, as some people with mono do not produce these specific antibodies.
