# Rubella Antibodies, IgG

> This test measures the amount of IgG antibodies in your blood that protect against the rubella virus, also known as German measles. It helps determine if your immune system has built up defenses against the disease, usually resulting from a past vaccination or previous infection. This information is particularly useful for confirming immunity before or during pregnancy to ensure protection for both the mother and baby. However, this test generally indicates past exposure and does not diagnose a current, active infection on its own.
