Cold Agglutinin Titer, Quantitative

This test measures the amount of cold agglutinins, which are antibodies that cause red blood cells to clump together at low temperatures. It helps explain symptoms like fatigue, pale skin, or pain in the fingers and toes when you are exposed to the cold. Doctors use these results to evaluate for Cold Agglutinin Disease, a condition where the immune system mistakenly destroys red blood cells. However, this test cannot diagnose a condition on its own, as some healthy individuals may have low levels of these antibodies without any health problems.
