# Actin (Smooth Muscle) Antibody (ASMA)

> This test measures the level of antibodies in your blood that target actin, a protein found in smooth muscle tissue. It helps show whether liver inflammation may be caused by the immune system mistakenly attacking the liver. Doctors often use this result to help distinguish autoimmune hepatitis from other liver conditions. However, this test cannot diagnose a disease on its own, as low levels of these antibodies are sometimes found in healthy people.
