This test measures the level of antibodies in your blood that mistakenly target your thyroid gland. It helps show whether thyroid issues are caused by an autoimmune reaction, where your body's defense system attacks healthy tissue. Doctors use these results to distinguish between autoimmune conditions and other causes of thyroid swelling or dysfunction.
