Ova and Parasites Examination, Urine

This test looks for parasite eggs or adult parasites in a urine sample, specifically focusing on a type of flatworm called Schistosoma haematobium. It helps determine if a parasitic infection is causing urinary symptoms like blood in the urine or bladder pain. This examination helps doctors identify or rule out Schistosomiasis, a condition caused by these parasites living in the blood vessels near the bladder. However, it cannot detect parasites that primarily infect the intestines or other organs not connected to the urinary tract.
