# C-Peptide

> This test measures C-peptide, a substance released by the pancreas whenever it produces natural insulin. It helps determine whether low blood sugar is caused by your body making too much insulin or by insulin taken as medication. This distinction allows doctors to evaluate how well the pancreas is functioning and helps rule out specific causes of hypoglycemia. However, this test cannot diagnose diabetes or identify a tumor in isolation without comparing the results to your blood sugar levels.
