Angiotensin-converting Enzyme (ACE)
This test measures the amount of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) in your blood, a substance often produced by inflammatory cells. It is primarily used to help monitor sarcoidosis, a disorder where clumps of immune cells form in organs like the lungs, to see if the disease is active or responding to treatment. While useful for tracking inflammation, this test cannot diagnose sarcoidosis by itself because elevated ACE levels can also occur in other lung conditions or metabolic diseases.
