Insulin-like Growth Factor 1 (IGF-1)

This test measures the level of insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1), a hormone that manages how your body grows and develops. Because IGF-1 levels remain stable throughout the day, this test helps show whether your body is producing normal amounts of growth hormone. It is useful for evaluating growth abnormalities, such as delayed development in children or excessive bone growth in adults. However, this test cannot identify the specific cause of a growth disorder by itself, as factors like poor nutrition can also affect the results.
