Antidiuretic Hormone (ADH), Plasma
This test measures the level of antidiuretic hormone (ADH) in your blood, a chemical that helps your kidneys manage the amount of water in your body. It is useful for investigating the cause of excessive thirst, frequent urination, or low sodium levels by showing how well your body controls fluid balance. Results help doctors distinguish between different types of water disorders, such as diabetes insipidus. However, because ADH levels fluctuate quickly, this test does not provide a standalone diagnosis and must be compared with urine and blood concentration tests.
