> This test measures the level of copeptin, a substance that mirrors the amount of vasopressin, a hormone responsible for regulating water balance in the body. It is often used to evaluate symptoms like excessive thirst, frequent urination, or unexplained low sodium levels. These results help doctors differentiate between various water balance disorders, such as specific types of diabetes insipidus. However, this test cannot diagnose a condition by itself, as levels can also be influenced by physical stress, heart issues, or severe infections.
