# Apolipoprotein A-1

> This test measures the level of Apolipoprotein A-1, which is the main protein found in HDL, often known as "good" cholesterol. Because this protein helps remove excess cholesterol from your body, the results help evaluate your risk for developing heart disease or blocked arteries. It can also help identify genetic conditions that prevent your body from processing fats correctly. However, this test does not diagnose a specific heart condition on its own and is usually interpreted alongside other cholesterol measurements.
