Prealbumin

This test measures the level of prealbumin, a protein made by your liver that helps carry nutrients through your bloodstream. Because prealbumin levels change quickly, this test helps show whether you are getting enough protein or if your body is absorbing nutrients properly. It is frequently used to monitor recent changes in nutritional health or to check for potential liver issues. However, since inflammation or infection can also lower these levels, this test cannot diagnose a specific disease or determine the exact cause of malnutrition by itself.
