Prothrombin Time (PT) and Partial Thromboplastin Time (PTT)
This test measures how many seconds it takes for your blood to form a clot. It helps show if your body can stop bleeding properly or if you are at risk for excessive bleeding. Doctors often use these results to investigate unexplained bruising, screen for bleeding disorders, or monitor how well blood-thinning medications are working. However, this test alone cannot identify the specific underlying cause of a clotting issue or diagnose a particular disease without further testing.
