It helps show whether your digestive system produces enough of the enzyme needed to break down this sugar, which is useful if you experience bloating, gas, or diarrhea after eating dairy. While the results help distinguish lactose intolerance from other absorption problems, this test does not identify milk allergies or diagnose specific underlying intestinal diseases on its own.
