Vitamin E (α and γ Tocopherol)
This test measures the levels of alpha and gamma tocopherol, which are the specific forms of Vitamin E circulating in your blood. It helps show whether your body has enough of this nutrient to protect cells and support healthy nerve and muscle function. Doctors often use this test to monitor patients with digestive conditions, such as cystic fibrosis or liver disease, that make it difficult to absorb vitamins from food. While it confirms if your levels are too low or too high, it does not diagnose the specific underlying disease causing the imbalance.
