> This test measures the total amount of testosterone in your blood as well as the free testosterone that is not attached to proteins and is active in the body. It helps show whether hormone levels are contributing to symptoms like excess hair growth in women or fatigue and low sex drive in men, particularly when conditions like obesity or thyroid issues might make standard tests less accurate. This measurement helps rule out or identify functional problems with the testicles or ovaries. However, it cannot diagnose the specific underlying cause of a hormonal imbalance without additional medical evaluation.
