# Copper, Whole Blood

> This test measures the amount of copper present in your blood to evaluate your body's mineral stores. It helps show whether you have dangerously high levels of copper that could damage your liver and brain, or low levels that might affect your immune system and nerves. Doctors often use this result to help rule out or monitor conditions like Wilson disease, where the body cannot get rid of extra copper. However, this test cannot identify the specific genetic cause of a copper imbalance on its own.
