# Vitamin D, 25-Hydroxy

> This test measures the level of 25-hydroxy vitamin D in your blood, which is the primary form of vitamin D stored by the body. It helps show whether you have enough of this nutrient to keep your bones strong and absorb calcium properly. Doctors use this result to identify a vitamin D deficiency or to check if you are getting too much from supplements. However, this test alone cannot determine the underlying cause of a deficiency or diagnose specific bone diseases.
