Catecholamines, Fractionated, Plasma
This test measures the levels of catecholamines, a group of hormones including adrenaline and dopamine that are released into your blood by the adrenal glands and nervous system. It helps show whether your body is producing excessive amounts of these hormones, which is often investigated in patients with unexplained high blood pressure, rapid heartbeat, or severe headaches. Doctors use these results to help screen for or rule out rare tumors known as pheochromocytomas or paragangliomas. However, this test cannot confirm a diagnosis on its own because stress, diet, and certain medications can also cause these levels to rise temporarily.
