Protein S Deficiency Profile

This test measures the level and function of Protein S, a protein in your blood that helps stop clots from growing too large. It helps show whether a shortage of this protein is the reason you are experiencing unexplained blood clots or have a family history of clotting problems. This profile helps rule out or confirm Protein S deficiency as a risk factor for your condition. It does not, however, pinpoint the specific genetic cause of the problem or diagnose an active clot on its own.
