Activated Protein C Resistance (APCR)
This test measures how well your blood responds to activated protein C, a substance that normally helps control clotting. It helps show whether your body has a resistance that increases the risk of developing abnormal blood clots in your veins. This screening is primarily used to look for inherited clotting disorders, such as the Factor V Leiden mutation. However, it does not confirm the specific genetic mutation by itself, so abnormal results often require follow-up genetic testing for a complete diagnosis.
