Lipoprotein(a)
This test measures the level of lipoprotein(a), a specific particle in your blood that carries cholesterol and is determined primarily by your genes. It helps show whether you have an inherited risk factor for developing heart disease or blood vessel blockages, which is especially important if you have a strong family history of heart issues. This measurement helps doctors distinguish between lifestyle-related cholesterol risks and genetic risks that may not respond as well to diet and exercise changes alone. However, this test does not diagnose a heart attack or replace standard cholesterol screenings like LDL and HDL.
