> This test measures the level of myeloperoxidase, an enzyme released by white blood cells during inflammation. It helps show if there is irritation or swelling inside your blood vessel walls, which is a risk factor for heart disease. Doctors use this information to assess if plaque in your arteries might be unstable. However, this test does not diagnose a heart attack or identify the specific location of a blockage on its own.
