Oxidized Low-density Lipoprotein (OxLDL)

This test measures the amount of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol in your blood that has been damaged by oxygen. Because this specific form of cholesterol is more likely to stick to artery walls, the test helps show your risk for hardening arteries and metabolic stress. It assists doctors in distinguishing between general high cholesterol and the specific type that actively damages blood vessels. However, this test identifies a risk factor and does not diagnose a heart attack or specific cardiovascular disease by itself.
