LDL-P
This test measures the specific number of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) particles in your blood, rather than just the total amount of cholesterol they carry. Knowing this number helps show your true risk for artery blockages, as having too many particles can lead to heart disease even if standard cholesterol levels look normal. Doctors often use these results to see if cholesterol treatments are working effectively or to better understand heart risks in people with diabetes. However, this test does not diagnose a specific heart condition on its own and is meant to be reviewed alongside standard lipid panels.
