It helps show whether a persistent cough, fever, or lung issue is caused by this germ, which is frequently linked to pneumonia and bronchitis. Results from this test help doctors rule out other potential causes of respiratory distress, such as viruses or different bacterial types. This test does not detect the sexually transmitted disease Chlamydia, and a single result cannot always distinguish between a current or past infection without further evaluation.
