Albumin, 24-Hour Urine
This test measures the amount of albumin, a protein usually found in the blood, present in urine collected over a full 24-hour period. It helps show how well your kidneys are functioning, because healthy kidneys normally prevent this protein from leaking into the urine. This measurement is frequently used to detect early signs of kidney stress or damage, especially in individuals managing diabetes. However, this test cannot diagnose a specific kidney disease by itself, and temporary factors like recent exercise or infection can affect the results.
