Galectin-3 With B-Type Natriuretic Peptide

This test measures two proteins in the blood, Galectin-3 and B-Type Natriuretic Peptide (BNP), which are released when the heart is stressed or developing scar tissue. It helps show the severity of heart strain and assesses the risk of future heart complications, particularly in individuals with shortness of breath or fluid retention. These results assist doctors in distinguishing between heart failure and other conditions, such as lung disease. However, this test cannot diagnose the specific cause of heart damage or replace the need for heart imaging.
